The open date matters

When you add a card, the “Date opened” field is the single most important input. Many benefits reset on your cardmember year (your anniversary), not the calendar year, and your annual fee posts on that same anniversary. If the date is wrong, your benefit periods, fee reminders, and free-night expirations will all be off.

Set it in the add-card form using the “Date opened” picker. Use the real date the account was opened — you can usually find it on your first statement or in the issuer’s app under account details.

Already added the card with the wrong date? You can fix it. On the Dashboard or in Settings, open the card and edit “Opened” (in Settings, click the pencil icon on the card; on the card’s detail page you can update it too), then save. All deadlines recalculate immediately.

Frequently asked questions

It depends on the benefit. Some credits reset each calendar month or quarter; others (and the annual fee) follow your cardmember year. PerkPilotPro uses your open date to calculate whichever applies to each benefit.
